How to make Ragi Porridge from ragi milk for babies from 5 months


As we all know ragi has many health benefits,it is quite interesting to know that it can be given to babies from 5 months.

Also in the olden days,ragi is considered to have all nutritions required for baby next to mother's milk. Here I'm sharing the basic ragi porridge made from ragi milk.

Method:


  • For preparing homemade ragi flour,

Take required amount of ragi,sieve it and wash it completely and dry in sun,grind into powder.
Store it in a air tight container.


  • For preparing ragi porridge,


  1. Take about half cup of homemade ragi flour,add around 2 cups of water and soak the ragi flour for about 10 minutes.
  2. You can see the ragi milk on the top and the flour gets settled at the bottom.
  3. Now filter the mixture from the top using a muslin cloth or a fine cotton cloth,till all the milk is filtered.
  4. Boil the extracted ragi milk on a medium flame till you get your required consistency.
  5. You can add panakarkandu(Palm sugar) or salt according to your babies preference to taste.

Notes

  • This porridge stays fresh for about 4 hours but it turns slight watery than actual consistency.
