Pumpkin rice for 7+ months babies

Pumpkin can be started giving to the babies from 6 months as puree form by just boiling the plain pumpkin and puree it.
Many of us think pumpkin as veggie but it is actually a fruit with little sweetness in it.
Pumpkin is a Beta- carotene rich fruit.This Beta-Carotene is healthy for heart and reduce the risk of cancer and it is an anti-oxidant.
When pumpkin is digested,the Beta-Carotene turns into vitamin A.Don't you think this is magical?πŸ˜‰
Pumpkins are rich in calcium and magnesium,fibre which aids in easy digestion.
Pumpkins are very good immunity booster for babies.

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup of sweet orange pumpkin,chopped
  • 1 teaspoon of rice
  • 3/4 cup of water
  • Ghee(optional)
  • Salt to taste

Method:


  1. Wash the rice and soak in water for 15 minutes.
  2. Meanwhile peel the skin of pumpkin,remove the seeds and chop into medium size cubes.
  3. In a pressure cooker,add rice along with cubed pumpkin and water with salt and cook it for 5 whistles.
  4. Once cooled,you can either mash it or blend it in a blender according to your feeding method.
  5. Finally add drops of ghee and serve the baby for lunch.

                                                       

Notes

  • Select pumpkin that is deep orange in colour,
  • Pumpkin should not be too ripe.
